The Gavi CSO Secretariat is organizing a regional convening for CSOs in Asia on the 30th of July, 2025. The upcoming regional CSO convening in Asia will focus on two timely themes: The role of innovative financing in ensuring sustained immunization, and lessons learned from the implementation of the Hepatitis B vaccine coinciding with World Hepatitis Day on July 281. The dialogue aims to equip CSOs with knowledge, inspire advocacy, and promote policy action to advance the prevention and elimination of vaccine-preventable diseases.

New CSO fund manager mechanism launched
In December 2021, the Gavi Board approved a new requirement for countries to allocate at least 10% of the combined Health Systems Strengthening (HSS), Essential Health Services (EAF), and Transition Country Assistance (TCA) funding ceilings for CSO implementation.
To support this effort and boost immunisation coverage in lower-income countries, Gavi launched a new CSO fund manager mechanism.

Breaking barriers with compassion
In Gujro Zone B, deep vaccine mistrust left children unprotected despite repeated vaccination attempts. Vaccinator Sumaira Zulfiqar built community trust through patient listening and relationship-building, raising immunization coverage from zero to 80%.
2024 WHO/UNICEF estimates of national immunization coverage (WUENIC)
In 2024, 89% of infants globally – about 115 million – received at least one dose of the diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (DTP)-containing vaccine, and 85% – roughly 109 million – completed all three doses, according to new national immunization coverage data released today by the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF.
Compared to 2023, around 171 000 more children received at least one vaccine, and one million more completed the full three-dose DTP series. While the gains are modest, they signal continued progress by countries working to protect children, even amid growing challenges.
